LIFT OFF to success (LO2S)

LIFT OFF to Success (LO2S) is a one week residential programme designed to give young people who are still at school the chance to find out more about college and university.

The programme runs in the summer holidays and works with selected pupils from our target schools who are moving from S3 to S4. During the week, the pupils visit many different partner colleges and universities and have a go at a wide variety of subjects – many of which are not taught in school. Current undergraduate students attending one of our partner institutions are employed during the week.

The role of the students is vital and multi-faceted – getting to know the pupils, ensuring everyone in their group is being looked after, getting people to the lectures on time (we like to give them a challenge!)
and of course acting as role models and answering questions about student life.

Download last year's programmeAlthough there is space for a relatively small number of pupils to attend LO2S, we hope that by enthusing them, these young people will go back into their schools as ambassadors for colleges and universities and the opportunities offered there.

The first LO2S was run in Dundee in August 2006
