University of Dundee & University of St Andrews
The Student Tutoring scheme has been designed to raise awareness of university amongst school pupils by facilitating interaction between them and current university students. It typically involves volunteer students assisting teachers in primary or secondary schools for one morning or afternoon per week for approximately eight weeks (usually between December and April).
The project not only benefits pupils by giving them the opportunity to find out about student life “from the horse’s mouth”, but also teachers and students.
Teachers gain an extra pair of hands in the classroom and students get a valuable personal and professional development opportunity.
