Overview
S5 is a great time to start thinking about what you want to do after school. Although this is often a daunting question, LIFT OFF are here to help equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in Higher Education.
Over the course of the year, you will have the opportunity to receive advice tailored to your goals in our IAP meetings as well as the chance to gain an additional qualification from our LOLS course. You can find out more about each of these below.
Engagements & Events
These Information Advice and Guidance sessions are an individual catch-up with LIFT OFF in S5. This is a chance for you to let us know how you are getting on at school, what experience you have outside of school, and what your plans are for the future. You will have the opportunity to have a one-to-one meeting with a member of the LIFT OFF team and we will provide you with personalised advice to help you plan and prepare for your future goals.
Signing up for LOLS gives you the chance to meet pupils from other schools and learn about skills that are essential for Higher Education. During this short course we will cover topics such as searching for courses and careers, taking notes, managing your time, academic writing and working in groups. Since this course is worth 3 credit points at SCQF level 6 (the same level as a Higher) you will need to successfully complete a group presentation to pass. We will provide support and feedback for this, making it a great opportunity to gain useful experience.
