Answers
1. How were the partner schools selected?
From Autumn 2009, the SFC has specifically requested that LIFT OFF work with those schools that fall into the lowest quintile nationally for progression to HE.
2. Which schools are partner schools?
| Area | School(s) |
|---|---|
| Angus | Arbroath Academy Brechin High School |
| Dundee City | Baldragon Academy Braeview Academy Craigie High School Menzieshill High School St Paul's RC Academy |
| Fife | Beath High School Lochgelly High School Kirkland High School Viewforth High School Woodmill High School |
3. How is LIFT OFF funded?
LIFT OFF is funded by the Scottish Funding Council through the Fife and Tayside Wider Access Forum.
4. How long will the schools involvement with LIFT OFF last?
From August 2008, the Forum, and therefore LIFT OFF, moved to a more permanent funding model, which allows us greater freedom to work on longer term projects with our target schools. Ultimately, though, the decision about which schools are LIFT OFF target schools rests with the Scottish Funding Council and the Local Authorities. If we are to stop working with any of our target schools, we will agree an exit strategy with them.
5. Can schools request specific activities?
We are always keen to recieve ideas and input from all of our partners. If there is an activity based around HE that you would like LIFT OFF to deliver, we’ll do our very best to oblige. Just contact us and let us know.
6. Does LIFT OFF support non-target schools at all?
LIFT OFF has produced resources which either have been or will be distributed to all secondary schools across the four local authority areas. These include the “Stepping Higher”, our HN – Degree articulation booklet, and the “Role on to Success” DVD and support pack, which features local students talking about their experience of college and university.
