LIFT OFF to success (LO2S)

So just what is this LO2S thing all about, then?

Only flippin' BRILLIANT is what! Where else do young people from partner schools get the chance to live in a student hall of residence, make new friends from different schools, visit loads of colleges and uni's and have a go at different subjects (most of them not taught at school)?!

LO2S usually runs in the summer holidays and lasts for 5 days / 4 nights. Since 2010 we have run two LO2S events each year, which means that even more pupils get to participate. The week is staffed by the LIFT OFF team, along with our fabulous LIFT OFF students and night staff. The activities in the colleges and universities are run by real lecturers - not people brought in especially for schools.

Who can apply?: You have to be a new S4 pupil at one of our partner schools. We're particularly keen to get applications from all those people who could do well at college or uni, but who might never have thought about going, or who might like to go but feel a bit under-confident about it (that's a lot of people - most of us in the LIFT OFF team would have qualified!).

LO2S is a great way to get a taste of being a student, and it also helps people to start thinking about what they might want to do after school. If that's not tempting enough - everyone who comes on LO2S becomes a Core Pupil, which means you are given additional help and support from LIFT OFF until you leave school (good, eh?)

Basically - if your guidance teacher has encouraged to you apply, you really should. It's a brilliant opportunity and you won't regret it :)
